Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is intended for use as a diluent in the preparation of parenteral research solutions. The benzyl alcohol inhibits microbial growth, allowing for multiple entries into the vial over a 28-day period after initial puncture.
